2013 Navion Steps flexing

I noticed the steps were flexing more than usual recently. It turns out the metal box that the steps are bolted to is cracked.
Have others had this problem?
Should I have the box repaired or replaced?

I could probably remove the steps and weld up the cracks maybe even reinforce the box.

Suggestions?

Hi Eshuler,
My vote would be to repair the box. When you weld, the metal will anneal around the welding, and reduce its propensity to crack. See if you have any sharp cuts which could act as a stress concentrator. Yes, I would add reinforcement to the damaged area too.
Welcome to the forum.
