Just got home from a nice few days out in the woods. Coming home the transmission was acting very erratic. This is a 2018 E450, 6.8L V-10 w/6 Speed TorqShift transmission. I understand there is a hill descent feature and it felt like that was misbehaving. At 35MPH or so, I would let off the gas and it would down shift, a couple of times very dramatically where I thought I might even get rear-ended. I would accelerate and have my foot to the floor, It would rev very high but I had a hard time getting to 20 mph for a few moments. At highway speeds it felt fine. We were on some steep-ish descents and climbs for awhile today. Coming downhill, it felt like the descent assist was working fine. I checked transmission fluid when I got home and it was less than full but not to the add line. The fluid does not smell burnt. There is about 30,000 miles on it. This would happen in or out of tow mode. Any thoughts?
Well, with 30,000 miles on it, I would have a transmission shop take a look at it. Could it be that error codes were recorded for the events? Normally, you can encourage a downshift with the application of the brakes, but something sounds weird.
Let us know, OK?
Thanks, Eagle5
