Blinds in the galley area

I was wondering why Winnebago puts those folding shades or metal blinds in the galley area. I would much prefer MCD's in that area as they use them everywhere else in the coach. Why do you think this is?

Mine came that way to make the shade/screen combo for ventilation with the windows open.

We ordered the acrylic windows, and they open outwards at the bottom, and have 3 set points for how "open" you want them. The pleated blind comes up from the bottom to meet the screen coming down from the top, and the height of that combo is adjustable for air flow, or privacy.

I wish they'd designed a mechanism to raise/lower them by a crank or lever or something inside on the wall, rather than the fully manual push outwards at the bottom edge.

You'd think someone would have thought that one through? My 2002 Roadtrek had crank out windows that were functionally similar, opened from the bottom outwards, but your hand never left the inside of the van.

I was mainly wondering why they don't put the MCD Roller Shades on that window? Are they afraid of a fire hazard?

Yes.
Since you weren't specific as to which year/make/model coach (sorry, I don't go digging though people's profiles),
" I would much prefer MCD's in that area as they use them everywhere else in the coach.",
I assumed the question was more about the style versus the functionality.

My coach only has a roll up shade in the rear "exit" window. All the others are some form of pleated blind.

Metal blinds in galley

I understand that’s it a fire safety issue.

You really do not want a pleated fabric shade in the kitchen as cleaning that would be near to impossible plus as others mentioned a potential fire hazard. The blind can be wiped clean if it gets splattered and allows good airflow even when its down with the slats opened.

Thank you for a real answer to my question.

(and you didn't have to look in my profile to answer it! )

I have often wondered the same thing. I hate that blind in the kitchen it rattles when driving and looks cheap. Glad someone asked and answered.

That is exactly what bothers me about using blinds on ANY window in a motorhome!
