So just picked up my '17 Navion and the DEF shows as full and I verified this manually too. Here is the issue, I think...
Every time I turn on the engine, I get the fill DEF message.
Also, today while driving, I get a message that says 10 starts remaining, 5 minutes later as I'm going over a hill I got a message that says 16 starts remaining.
I'm guessing the Sprinter actively monitors the level of DEF and on the fly every X minutes will recalculate DEF remaining and usage and propose a number of starts remaining.
Is this correct and we just have to get used to this annoying reminder or is something wrong or needs to be reset by MB.
Supposed to leave for a short 750 mile round trip this weekend, our first trip with the new Navion.
Any insight into the DEf system above what's in the manual would be appreciated.
I can't say that I know what exactly is happening but can recommend the following:
- With shore power disconnected turn off the chassis and coach (house) battery switches for about 15 minutes. This will often reset 12V systems including some of the dash and possibly the DEF system.
- Do call WBGO and MB - their techs often coach owners through diagnostics that can lead to a quick fix or a recommendation on where to seek service ...

We have owned our 2017 Navion / Mercedes since June of 2016.
We have had NO Problems at all with the Mercedes end of the unit.
At approximately 1000-1200 miles when the DEF gauge shows just under
3/4 tank level I buy a gallon jug of DEF and it brings it up to full.
13,000 miles so far no warning lights at all for anything

2014 View 24V-DEF light and engine light came on. I refilled the DEF container and the computer will not reset. Mercedes Benz says that I must bring to them to reset the DEF gauge! The books says I only have 16 engine starts before a speed limiter will crank us down to 5MPH max.
The advice I got from Mercedes was, after you fill the tank, turn the ignition on to the start position and let it sit until the gauge resets. You should be able to get the DEF gauge on your display.

Roger and Mary...LIFESAVER...thanks very much. The process of leaving the key in the start position cleared the DEF warning light but not the check engine light which comes on with a later DEF warning. However, I decided to crank up the engine and that cleared up the check engine light. Then I call Mercedes Benz and canceled my appointment with them ....and told them how to reset the warning messages. Thanks ever so much.
