I have a 2008 Winnebago View and the gear selector is not moving as it should. Initially it would not move into reverse from neutral but now it won't stay in park and it feels sloppy. I have been told it is likely the cable connecting the selector with the transmission. Does anyone have experience with this issue?
UPDATE: In case anyone else has an issue which requires removal of the gear selector mechanism I can assist as I just changed mine out. What was originally thought to be a cable issue was nothing of the sort, it was a spring in the selector itself that keeps it centered in the shift gate. Somehow it came off and dropped into the lower part of the selector which blocked various functions depending on how it was situated. I had to disassemble the console (7 pieces) to remove the unit and replaced it with a used one I purchased. It now woks as it did originally. I probably saved about $1500-2000 by doing it myself.
