2012 24M -
Consider the following:
1, Distance between fuel, service and supply facilities.
2. Roadside assistance availability
3. Navion is cramped lifestyle but has many advantages in weight, parking and maneuverability. (have a relative with an empty driveway? Fill it!!
4. Additional downside - with added weight, descending winding mountain passes can be tough on the brakes, have to pull over and let them cool.
5. Each floor plan has different advantages/disadvantageous to suit different life styles styles. The "M" model has overhead bunk and a hide-a-bed that blocks the ladder overhead bed and passage way to bathroom. I would consider the model that has the stationary rear bed. For my "M" model, I had a custom foam mattress made that fits in the buffet area, we have custom driver/passenger heated seats that rotate 180 degrees and use the small removable floor mounted table. The foam mattress restricts access to the under-the-bench seat storage area so I installed a slide-out drawer in the side of each bench seat that opens into the isle way.
The Navion has a lot of limitations for long term fixed-in-place camping but a lot of advantages for accessing sites that bigger rigs can't and the maneuverability, fuel millage and vehicle reliability are exceptional.
Keep in mind that there is only 20 gal propane. I installed a "stay-a-while" propane connector that allows the use of external LPG bottles. Consider opting for a diesel space heater rather than LPG. so that the only LPG use is cooking and hot water. i also added solar to be sure that I could recover from a dead battery.
