Question Rear hatch on my 2013 View Profile

The rear storage hatch door is supported in the down or open position by two thin wires that almost immediatly started cutting a groove on both sides of the hatch frame. Has anyone experienced this and or have a good solution. I was surprised at what seems to me to be very poor design on Winnebago's part. Thanks for any feedback.
