Screen door help 2003 Minnie 31C

The sliding portion of my screen door has always been missing since I have owned our 2003 31C Minnie. I ordered and got that missing portion, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get the part into the door. The screen door seems to be very sturdy. Anyone know how I can get the part into the door? See the attached pictures.

As you've discovered, you can't easily slide the new cover into the slots in the cross braces without cracking the new cover. There are two cross braces that run above and below the opening. There are two screws on each end of the cross braces. You can see the screws if you look at the edge of the door by the latch.

There might be an easier way but here is what I did. I removed those screws from both ends of the cross braces and then wiggled them around/tipped them in so that I could slip the sliding cover into the slots. Also, the big metal plate that is in between the cross braces is caulked into place, I had to slice that caulk to free up the cross braces. Once I got the sliding piece in, I just tightened everything up and recaulked with silicone.

By the way - great job adding the photos to your post! Very helpful.

Edit: I also read where some people have shaved off a little from the top and bottom of the sliding cover so that it slipped in easier without undoing the braces. Seems like you would have to be very careful so that the cover wouldn't fall off.

Thanks, I will do what you suggested. They certainly don't make it easy.
