Unknown Device on my 2006 Outlook 331SC

Hello everyone, first post here I was looking for some info on a small device installed on the driver side under steering wheel. My rig is a 2006 Winnebago Outlook 331SC built on a Ford E450 Super Duty chassis. This thing has a red light on it with a button on the bottom and I can't trace where the wire is going, just appears to run under steering wheel and back towards firewall. It also appears to be after market, anyone have an idea what this could be? Greatly appreciated thank you.

Hi Axion42,
Well I have no idea, but I do know the most commonly-found last words on a Flight Recorder is:
  • "What's this button for?"
Welcome to the forum.

When does the red light come on? Could it be part of an after market alarm system?

Did you get the big bag of info with the RV? Any info manuals that would fit something aftermarket added?
Without more info on where it goes and what makes the light come on/off, there is an almost unlimited number of items folks may have added over the last 15-20 years.

I have friends who keep an LED pointer to mess with the cat's mind!

The light only comes on when I push the button. I am currently on a 1400 mile trip and the other day I did accidently (curious) pushed the button and since then my RV has been hard to start, I have to crank motor about 4-6 seconds to start it. Looking at the manual it shows the fuel pump cut off in this area but this device looks different so I just wanted to poke a few brains to see of they recognized this thing and knew what it does. Thinking back I can't remember if the red light was illuminated *before* I pushed the button or not, but I followed the manual to reset the fuel pump cut off switch and now the light stays on and the RV still takes 4-6 seconds of cranking before it starts. It used to start immediately.

Yea I got the owners manuals with the RV but it shows or says nothing of this device, I even talked with previous owner who had it for 8 years and he said he never even noticed it.

I would not expect the owners manual to mentioon this but was hoping somebody might have added a manual for something if they added this!
If the previous owners never noticed it, I'm thinking yoou are down to finding where the wires go!
One small bit of info might be gained by finding which battery system it is tied into, coach or chassis. Not much guarantee of which it might be wired into but but knowing might let you rule out some things.
If it does in fact change the starting it may be something as off center as some form of fuel economy gizmo.
Maybe a water injection system that worked so bad they sold the RV?
