Leaking shower in 2401 rg
I love the the 2401 rg but Winnebago really dropped the ball on our 2016. First trip we noticed water coming out under shower. Next trip shower bottom cracked and flimsy wall plastic cracked. So I ripped it out and am replacing with porcelain tile. I’m tile contractor so I do have expertise in this matter. Has anybody had a similar experience in their towable?

I'm not sure tile will work well due to the vibration and flexing of the trailer. I think you will be better off just using a higher quality pan and wall material.

I’m using anti fracture membranes everywhere there is Tile. Could be a mistake but that is what pricey big rigs use on their Tilework. Pointing up grout every once and while is no big deal to me. It certainly looks much better the plastic walls and pan that was factory installed. So time will tell.

2701 TG shower leak
Take cover off shower pan front and get mirror to look up under bath vanity cabinet. Have them put water into fresh water tank , cut shower on, get on floor with flashlight. Good luck

I agree with old engineer. Porcelain tile may not be appropriate. RVs, after all, are boxes on wheels that bounce down the road. What is the weight difference between what you now have and what you propose?

I called winniebago and they said that shower was over axle and best place to add weight. Total weight was just over 100 lbs. Waterproofing/anti-fracture membrane on existing walls with mastic for flexibility and I’m as tile contractor confident it will hold up. Winniebago was $1400 to replace after driving to Iowa with same materials

Not on end of TT
His point was shower is in center of TT near axle Not on end of TT that could promote fish tails possibly

“I called winniebago and they said that shower was over axle...”. It’s not.
And adding weight in front of this Winnie’s axels adds tongue weight, for which one can compensate. The shower is clearly in front of the axel. This is a factual disagreement. Whether traditional tile in an RV will or won’t survive the road is opinion until OP does it.

I have a Sunstar LX 27N and also had water leaking out from under the wall from behind the shower. La Mesa, Sanford, found and fixed it quickly. However, none of us realized the water had found its way into the basement under the dinette leaving the area and the carpet wet and moldy.

Jandjstar I have the same model (2401RG) and exact same problem with water leaking; no cracks though. I have tried re-caulking a couple of times and am doing it a third time. Part of the challenge is the cabinets are so close to each side of the shower it is tough to get in there to see or work. I am hoping this go around of caulking works.

Leak
I hope the caulk helps but it probably only slow it down. The wall plastic is so thin that I could not see the leaks til the bottom cracked. Being tile contractor I went the Tile route. 2000 miles and 4 months latter Tile is holding up fine. We actually enjoy the shower now. Lot of work but was good investment. Good luck on yours

Leaks
I hope it works, as well. This is my first camper and while I enjoy most things about it, there are a few modifications I would make if I could...like the bathroom. In any case, when I go to get my next one I will definitely shop for it through the lens that can only come from experience. I like the Winnebago name.

So, it’s been awhile, and I’m curious as to how this all turned out. Did it solve the problem, and did it affect towing?
