My intent is to travel PA to AZ to winter using the TT. I will head due south to get out of the freezing temps as soon as possible and travel along the southern route. I'm trying to stay out of the freezing temps, but timing is critical. Northern TX and NM can bring freezing temps. In the meantime, I will put the pink antifreeze in the black tank and use hand carried water to flush the toilet. I'll keep the stored water in the car during the day, and the trailer at night with the LP furnace heat. I won't use the water system nor drain into the gray tank till I arrive in Phoenix. What'ya think???

I just bought a 2021 Subaru Ascent and test drove the 2021 micro-mini we are buying. It handled better than my outback and scamp. The Ascent has a built-in car/trailer electronic brake tow sway control. I am so excited! Tow weight limit is 5000, 500# dry hitch weight.

Sounds great. There's a Facebook group you might enjoy called "Rvs Without Trucks".

About 21 mpg freeway. I have about 8000 miles on it. Not close enough to the sticker: Up to 21 city / 27 highway. My other 4 Subaru's came within 2 mpg of the Sticker guesstimate.
Towing the Minnie, 8-10 mpg, closer to 8, but dependent of terrain. That was from Lakeview, Ohio to Grapevine, Texas starting on January 11th. 1100 miles.

How did you handle the winter conditions re the water system?

Hello, how fast were you towing to achieve 12mpg? I towed my 2021 2100bh from Iowa to Utah with a 19' F150 3.5L and ranged 6.7 to 8 mpg. I tried adjusting my speed and resetting the fuel meter but could not increase it. Stopping to refuel every 250 miles made me want to trade in my truck hahah.

Very pleased with the Colorado, especially cruising along at 1800 rpm's (Flats) and a high of 2800-3000 in the Mtns. of Colorado

Sounds good. We go from CO through either NM or UT to get to NV, AZ, CA. I don't travel with pink in, will hook up the garden hose and flush the pink out real well, then about 1/4 tank of fresh, two 5g collapsible containers. Then get through NM or UT fast.

Winterize?
Thanks for that input Sono.
We just closed deal to buy a new 2108ds. We take delivery next Friday. Thanks also to the member who recommended RV Dynasty. We got a pretty good deal, and they will be installing the husky centerline WDH. Glad to join the group and get some good advice. I’ll post a pic next Friday.
It’s that time of year in Western North Carolina when we get some overnite freezes. But we don’t want to winterize quite yet, as we’re planning trips southward.

One more question.
If we put pink in the black and grey tanks, and blow with air using a blowout fitting for the fresh water connect, will that keep the coach protected?

I'd open the drain on the hot water heater. Then open the drain on the fresh water tank. Then raise the tongue and open the low point drain valves. Then open the faucets, shower, outdoor shower, and the toilet fill valve to let everything drain. I'd then open the antifreeze suction valve to allow the pump suction piping to drain back to the fresh water tank. You might even try running the pump for a few seconds to see if it will suck air and purge itself a bit. You can then close all these things up, level the trailer, and go ahead and use your air compressor to purge the lines via the city water connection by running each sink, shower, outdoor shower, and toilet fill valve. Then put the RV antifreeze in the sink drains, shower drain, and toilet. Feel free to use a lot so that you get some built up around the tank dump valves. This sort of approach has worked for me in central TX, but we don't tend to get really hard freezes here.

Anyone installed SeeLevel Tank Monitor in a Minnie TT? The irregular-shaped tanks make this tricky.

I used that method on my previous RV - E-Pro 19FBS - with no problems. I intend to winterize my new 2108DS the same way.
Be sure to remove the drain plug from the hot water heater, drain the fresh water tank and open the low point drains.
