murphy bed blues for 2021 Micro Minnie 2108DS

Hello,
New to the forum so I don't know if this has been answered already. It's a two part question. First: when I pull the murphy bed down, the handle leaves a dent in the couch cushion. I'm wondering if over time it may rip or damage the cushion. Second: I'd like to travel with the bed in the upright position. Is it necessary to strap the bed somehow? Any solutions, tips, advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Steve

Others have reinforced the hinges by adding more/bigger ones. One of My gas struts broke when traveling upright. But found that they were mounted incorrectly. Replaced both. Before selling my 2108ds, I had bought all the hardware needed to reinforce hinges, and put a latch at the top of the bed to attach it securely to the overhead shelf. So, answer is, yes you can do it.

Marine359: Thank you for the response. Could it be as easy as a bungee cord around the bed handle and hooked to the upper shelf ? Or, does it require something more substantial and permanent? Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks,
Steve

My plan was to just use a screw to drill in a 3” piece of stained 1x2 wood into the bottom part of the shelf which could be swiveled down to prevent the bed from falling down. And I had bought some heavier duty hinges.

Murphy bed

Hi never had any trouble with bed even added 8 inch foam mattress from Sam's club. I was told never travel with bed up because stresses hinges and the roads I travel that bed would come crashing down. 2019 2108ds

Thank you matt2645. I think I have an idea on how to do it and hopefully not stress the hinges or the gas struts. We'll see. You'll know it didn't work if I'm back on here crying about broken hinges and how to fix them.
