Relocate low point water drain valve

Simple question for the Micro Minnie owners. Have any of you relocated the low point water drain valve into a more protected location or shielded it? I’ve never seen a drain valve just hanging down like what Winnebago did on these trailers. The flexibility may offer some protection if struck by a rock or other road debris, but when I saw this setup my first concern was a strike to the plastic valve might break it and dump all the fresh water.

At a minimum, I will shorten the hose and reclamp the valve with a 1/2” pex band.

Is yours just behind the door step?
Lousy location for draining as well! Wrong side from other utilities and would not drain with a 1/2” line run along the ground to the other side :(

Yup, barely visible in the distance on this picture. Hangs down about 6".

My answer/solution is 2nd post in this thread:

https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...2r-367395.html

If I re-do that project I will run PEX to the other side of the trailer. In addition to the valve at the end of the run, I will start with a valve screwed into the tank so if the line did get damaged I could still shut off the flow. Hopefully, that valve will never have to be closed. The port on my tank has 1/2" NPTs.

In another recent post I extended the plumbing drains to the outside. I used plastic valves. If they do get damaged they are easy and inexpensive to replace.

I am hoping nothing happens on this next 6 week trip, and am carrying a spare valve…

I may consider putting a 90* elbow at the outlet of the tank and running a flex hose above the belly membrane, and then pop that hose out to a valve that I'll mount right at the driver's side somewhere.

Agree with the method, that is what I was planning, but may want larger than 1/2” hose.
When I ran a 1/2” hose to the other side on the ground, it did not drain, even with the gravity fill cap open and kitchen faucet open. Odd, there were a few small loops on the ground, but not enough head height to start draining…

Not a Micro Minnie...but I've relocated the fresh water tank drain. I got tired real fast sliding under our 2529RG.

Oh, and they used a flange mount elbow ball valve,( may have been changed by dealer?) and may seem to be something hanging up in the valve maybe…
I would use a straight thru valve to be easier to clear…

For those folks considering relocating their water tank drain valve, here's somthing to consider: The port on the tank is already low, and your new valve location and its associated line has to be lower. That eliminated some of the configurations I would have liked to use.
