Ride height is measured from the ground (on a level surface) to a datum on the underside of the coach, typically a suspension point, front and rear.

Check the Freightliner Chassis Owner's Club here for the appropriate measurements and datums for ride height.

Do folks tend to find that their height is greater than listed by the builder specs?

Pusherman's link to the chart is what Ron is looking for. Ride height refers to the suspension height adjustments, which are changed by adjusting the links on the height sensing valves for the air bags. It has nothing to do with overall coach height. That becomes very important when you try to enter an open garage door.

It was taken in the Grand Tetons. The Grand Teton is on the left and Mount Moran falling off the right edge of the picture. We were staying in Jackson and decided to leave before breakfast, then have it in a turnout in the park for a better view.

Ride height is measured differently on different chassis. On my Spartan Mountain Master Chassis the front ride height is 9.25" and on the rear, the ride height is 8.25". The front is taken by measuring the air bag from where it is mounted on the bottom to the top. The rear ride height is measured from the bottom of the frame rail to the center of the axle.

I emailed freightliner, gave my vin and they emailed ride heights for my chassis. 2003 journey 36. Winnebago said you could lower the front a bit if you desired but make sure the rear is on spec.

For you owners of the 34hd DL here is the measurements according to Freightliner.
Front is 10 in. +- 1/4 inch
Rear is 9 3/4 in. +- 1/4 in.
Front and rear is to be measured from the bottom of the frame rail to the centerline of the shock bolt.
Maybe this measurement is good for all lenghts of chassis and year models but best to call Freightliner with your serial number to be sure.
