All right, I've seen it happen on other Winnies and now it's happening on mine. The middle LED third brake light is slowly sun-fading from deep red to light red or pink. I've tried 303 Protectant to rejuvenate & stop the UV, but it looks like it's gonna be a lost cause...
Guess my options are to either ignore it, or buy a new one and go thru the same thing all over again?

Mine was that way when I got it. I thought it was supposed to be that way until I inspected it closely and found water in the fixture. It still worked but I ordered a new one from Winnebagoparts.com (Mobility RV) anyway. The new one seems to be made better and is a very deep red.

Mine is doing the slow "fade to pink" also. I've been debating replacing it with something different like a full width LED light like you'd see on some automobiles, but the new and improved one sounds like an easier option.

Do you recall what the replacement cost from Winnebagoparts?

I got a new lens when I was recently in Forest City.

It's not too expensive of a deal and if it has to be changed every 2 years well that isn't too bad. The sun can be brutal out there. I do wonder if there is any better material to use for that lens though. The tail lights don't seem to fade.

Mine faded too and I ordered a replacement from Lichtsinn...It is not the material that is causing the fading, as ALL unprotected plastic will fade or deteriorate from UV exposure. The taillights are usually major automotive OEM specs and they have a UV wetcoat applied...It would appear the cheapo center brake light may not have the same spec. By the way, my taillights are from a ford focus wagon and the headlights are jeep grand cherokee.

Joe:

I believe I paid about $21 plus shipping for the replacement light. If you look on the back of the light, you can see the manufacturer name. I went to their web site and it can be ordered direct, but I seem to remember it was about the same price.

Land Ho: UV clear coat applied by OEM. I called my dealer and he sent me a new brake lite. I haven't put it in yet and would coat it with the UV clear. Is this UV clear coat available;anyone know?

Maybe I'll just cover mine with some red tape like I see some beaters around here use as tail lights!
$21.00 plus shipping is alittle high for a lousy little plastic cover! Shouldn't have to replace it this soon or ever as far as that goes!
Oh well.

It is not just a cover, it is the whole LED light assembly. You could wet sand it, then buff it, then spray it with automotive clear coat...

Gary CA, sorry, UV clear coat cannot be applied by you and me. You have to coat it, and then bake it in an oven to cure it etc...I figure I'll just replace when it turns pink again...or paint my MH pink...ha ha

Would painting the bulb "RED" fix the problem?

No bulb in the light....just a bunch of red LED's. Even if the outer cover turns clear, the LED's give you a red light during braking.

I noticed my brake light fading as well.I think
replacing it with a clear long LED setup would look neat...
