Just finishing up this very same job! Bought a Vizio D32x-D1 for 200 bucks at wallymart. There is an RCA audio output on the driver side of the TV. Hooked it right up to the 'wart' plugs, and works like a charm. I'm not detailed enough of a person to incorporate the TV into the front fascia, so used the metal feet for support and tucked a nice Blu-ray DVD player underneath the TV. Also, the TV speakers are out the bottom, so something to consider when how to mount the TV.
I'm staining a 2x10 piece of pine for the base to match the color of the wood fascia, and using picture/coffee cup hangers, which screw into the back of the TV, and two more hangers in the that wood base, I can secure the TV with a bungy cord I thread up and over the hooks. Old school boogering, but, looks ok to me. And raising the TV hides the space above it.
This is on our 2004 Winnebago Vectra, the metal cage is 28.75 wide, by 23.5 tall, and the TV is 28.6 wide so it's a nice snug fit. The Directv HR24 is in the left upper compartment, and both devices are connected by HDMI cables. Works like a charm.
