35f odor in macerator compartment

have been full timing in new unit for 4 months and I am noticing a odor in compartment that the macerator pump is located. Can not find any leak,
is that black tank vented in the compartment with the pump

It should be, check up on the roof to make sure the vent is not plugged. Do you close the valve before the pump after emptying it? Flush with clean water?

Aparently the 3" hose they supply between the sewer valve and macerator will let fumes by. I'm in the same stinky boat !

Check the couplers between the tank and valve and valve and macerator. They could be allowing fumes out. Also if they are rubber, eventually odors will penetrate them, might have to replace them with neoprene..

If you have a Sanicon pump, the problem is probably the black 3" hose that they supplied with the kit. It's water tight but will pass odors.

I replaced mine with a piece of that heavy duty silver colored (can't remember the brand) hose and have had no further issues for about 5 years.

today I removed the vent cap on roof and ran water into tank that's clear. Then I filled tank from toilet till water was a top of toilet and let stand for 5 hours. Then I searched tank and pump compartment with valve open and pump off for moisture none. I guess maybe the rubber couplers or the 1 and a half inch discharge must breath the odor and pass no water.

Once again, have you checked the hose between your sewer outlet and the macerator pump? Two peoples replies have suggested that could be your problem.

I'll make that 3. And if you call Thetford or any of the shops that carry these units and ask the question, you will be the first and only one that's complained about this.. Yeah right.. I always rinsed the macerator to the point of ridiculousness. It has ALWAYS been rinsed completely out and NEVER allowed to have anything sit in it. But once that smell impregnates the hose, it will never leach completely out. I tossed my hose as well.
