Black Tank enzymes, deodorizers, cleaners
What are your favorite and/or highest recommended Black Tank enzymes/deodorizers/cleaners?
(We're looking for something that's as easy as "drop it in via the toilet.")
Thank you!

For the past 20+ years I've been using H20; plain water, lots of it to keep all solids covered. Never have had any black tank issues.

For the longest time I was using the "Geo method" which was dawn dish soap and Calgon water softener. It did a wonderful job but was more work than I wanted. I since have been using the over the counter packets, that can be gotten anywhere that carries RV items. Those packets and plenty of water to start was worked for me. They all seem to do pretty much the same thing.
I will say that after draining black tank a very good flush out has helped almost more than the packets.

I’ve read the packets make peanut butter in the black tank, which then fouls the level sensors, so I want to avoid that!
Agree with plenty of water and flushes!!!

I have used the basic Geo-Method for about 25 years with success. I typically treat the tanks once or twice a year depending on usage. Black tanks are usually treated at the middle of the year and the end of the year. Gray tanks at the end of the year. So far I have had no issues. And as pointed out, lots of water. Most people skimp on the water when flushing the toilet and that is where their problems come from. We also attempt to wait until the tanks are full before dumping.

We've never used any additive for our black tank (40 years) until this year. This year we started using "RV DIGEST-IT".
Boy was that a mistake!
This product renders everything into mush, but it all sinks into the outlet and turns back into a solid.
Makes it really tough to dump.
It's generally the grey tank that smells bad.

Like a few others above, I use water. After dumping, pump enough through the toilet to cover the bottom well and I'm good for about 5 days, more if it's cool outside. The chemicals concern me about the impact to the environment around the beautiful places we all like to visit.

We have been most pleased with the Happy Camper product. We are full time. Also lots of water!

We normally do not use anything. I do keep a small box of Thetford Campa-Chem powder packets which we use if we are dry camping in temps over 90. Fulltiming since 2012.

I use Borax in both the Black and the Gray. My tanks stay very clean.
