Check your outside shower faucets to make sure they're closed.

homeless,
check the check valves on the back side of the water heater.
I removed mine to replace and found the new ones to be 1/2'' too long.
I removed the guts from the old check valves and all is well.

OK the check valve is the top water line coming out of the water tank?

If I disable the check valves will I still be able to bypass and winterize the system?

Ok so to complete my thread I have taking advice to the notion my check valves on the back of my water heater where bad. I set to work to crawl into the hot water bay and take loose one of the check valves to find that it looks as if it functions properly. And the other one I could not get off because some genius glued it to the water heater and I am unable to turn it off with out damaging the water heater housing. I used a small screwdriver to probe the end of the check valve, not sure if I moved it or not but with out not being able to take it off I decided to put back both check valves and try something else. After putting everything back together, seems all is well. Hot water now flows properly!

With all that said, once I got behind the water heater, I found two radiator type hoses. What is that about?

Do you have motor aid, it uses the heat from your motor to heat your hot water tank when driving.
