How to empty galley water filter itself?

Per my last post, shipping happened much faster than anticipated and the mailman showed up with the plug just in time , so we winterized as instructed by our User Manual (meaning: removed the galley water filter prior to winterizing).

But the filter is still full of water. No matter how much I shake it or just leave it sitting upside down, it seems like that water ain't coming out. There are no buttons or release valves that I can find to push, either. So, how do we get this filter emptied? (I don't want -- and it seems like not the best idea -- to leave water sitting stagnant inside it for the winter months we won't be using it.)

I should note (as others have suggested changing the filter every 6 months and/or just using an old one for winterizing) that we aren't frequent RVers, so filters would last much longer tan 6 months for us -- hence wanting to store this one and use it again next summer.
