Leaking Fresh water tank

Good morning,

Over the weekend I noticed water leaking under the RV. After investigation
I found the water was leaking from the fresh water tank elbow. I have taken the panel off and tried adjusting the cable, still leaks. It has the
Valterra 1-1/2 valve and I have read where replacing the seals may take
care of it.

Does anyone have a procedure on how this is done and what is the correct
seals to order for it. The RV is a 2001 Winnebago Journey, diesel pusher.

Before replacing the seals, re adjust the cable that opens/closes it.

Their is a set screw at the cable on the valve, loosen the set screw, then pull the handle (the one in the wet bay) out approximately 3/8 of a inch, tighten the set screw on the valve. The valve now has 3/8 of an inch more travel to close the valve.

If that doesn't work, change the rubber seals.

I did both and no more leaks.

How did you know which seals to order? What I know is I have a Valterra 1-1/2 valve body.

I just got a 1.5" rubber expanding plug and inserted it into the elbow. No more leak. If I have to, I can crawl under there to drain but since I full time, it's not likely I'll need to. Unless I spend the winter in Alaska again.

I replaced my valve with a Valterra
TC 173 from Amazon.

Removed my valve, took it to a local rv dealer. They had the seals in stock. Replaced them and have had no trouble since.

Ok, I never thought about replacing the whole thing nor taking it to
an RV dealer. Both are good ideas and I will know more this weekend
when I attempt to replace the seals.
