That vent/overflow tube can cause problems. I had a few trailers like that and the vent tubing had a loop in it. This loop fills with water and prevents bugs from entering (supposedly), but it can also restrict air entering as water is pumped out, and create a slight backpressure when filling the tank..
Lastly, during cold weather that water-filled tube can freeze and burst, the results of which are obvious. I used my air compressor to blow water out of the vent tube when winterizing.
re: leveling; the absorption refrigerator is the most important reason to level the RV; 3° side-to-side and 6° front-to-back is the limit, otherwise the cooling unit will slowly fail.
