Pop the light cover and see if there is a shorted wire, loose bulb, etc. But, most likely you have a bad door switch. Or it is stuck. If you have your manual, it should show you how to change and give a part number. If you do not have a manual, they are readily available online. And free!!!
We have a double door model. Switch is in the upper left door jamb.

honestly, it's not that terrible of an idea.
Mechanical switches eventually go bad, especially when they are built into a crappy apartment mounted atop a bouncing cargo van.
If one wants to really build with an eye towards durability, removing parts, electrical junctions, solder joints, and wires is not a bad way to go. (of course, I'm sure there was a profit motive as well...)
Considering the lifespan and low power usage of LED lights... I get it.

The cooling fans on my 4 door Norcold never shut off. My entire cooling unit was replaced and now the fans stay on. Prior to the replacement they never came on. Are they ok running all the time? We are in Florida for 3 month. That is a long time for fans to run.

So, I read how your manual says it is always on. Read mine again. Says it goes out. Makes sense. Cuts down on parasitic power drain. Explains our door switch.
In case I missed something, turned my cellphone to video. Put it in the fridge. Closed the door. Counted to 20. Opened the door. Viewed video. Yep. Light goes out. Judge you have a different Norcold model from ours.
Turned around. Tried to explain to SWMBO what I was doing. She insists I need to go back to work. I believe that comment amounts to spousal abuse.

Two years ago, I replaced my original frig with a same style Norcold N841R.
I was recently evaluating what would I have to do to install an internal circulating fan (12v).
So far I found that my light DOES go off (I can see it go off when the door is almost closed).
I could not find a manual switch but upon investigation, I discovered that there is a magnetic switch at the botton of the Control Panel area that opens/closes the light circuit.
Still not sure how to wire in the 12v fan but I now know what controls the light.
Look up the Norcold service or Owners manual on the internet and read up on how to test this switch.
Keep us posted.

That's normal, plus helps the cooling unit perform better.

On my Norcold N611, if I leave the door open for more than about 2 minutes, will shut off the light. There isn't a switch that I can see but the light definitely doesn't stay on.

The Norcold N841 service manual states on page 4 the interior light draws .6 ADC/7.2 watts. That is a minimal current draw, and most small LED lights do not radiate heat.

6/10a is not an insignificant draw when its on all the time. Thats 600ma, not 60, which would be closer to an LED. In any case the whole thread is moot as we all know the light does switch off. The manual is wrong
