Norcold refrigerator won’t stay cold

Greetings,
We have a 2014 Navion IQ and we are traveling from NH to Arizona we have been in the road for over a week and have been having problems keeping food cold. We have tried propane,ac and battery all with mixed results. The first two days it was very cold outside and the fridge kept the food cold/ frozen then within 2 days the temp went up to 60f and we had to throw all the food out and go to Walmart and buy foam coolers and ice. Since then the coldest we can get is 47F.We have tried every combination in our 3 way fridge, we are supposed to be boondocking but even with being hooked up to shore power the result is the same. We are new to the Navion world but have been using a 2 way propane/electric refrigerator for several years just a different brand so any suggestions are greatly appreciated, we have a couple more months on the road. Thanks in advance we will be off the grid for the next couple of days( we are in Texas):confused so we will answer any questions when we can. We have the manuals and have tried everything they said - no luck

That doesn't sound good. There are some troubleshooting videos on YouTube but too many times it's not really fixable. All of the fixes I've seen require pretty major repairs - and most include removing the fridge.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Very best of luck to you!

PS. If your travels are taking you near San Antonio give Texas RV Supply a call for repairs. They are my go to shop and they really care about getting people in and out in a hurry and doing a great job. They aren't cheap with a shop rate of $150/hr but I find them better than any other RV repair shop I've ever used.

There are two things that come to mind. One the "thermistor" thats the thing that is clipped onto the fin in the frig part. There are alot of videos on the norcold thermistor. You may try disconnecting it from the frig. the connection is where your frig light is.

Second may be if you have one. Its a safety device that shuts the unit down if it gets to hot. You will see that outside clipped to one of the tubes. Its about 2x2 square. It it have a red light on the safety switch has been tripped. I have been told that by removing the cover and using a magnet will reset the switch. But remember that unit is telling you something is truly wrong and needs to be fixed.

NHBoomers-

First off, welcome to Winnieowners!

Second, you should add a signature to your user profile. It usually includes the year, make and model of your coach, but can include other information. A signature is appended to each post. To create/edit a signature, click on the "User CP" link in the orange bar at the top, then click on "Edit Signature."

Re: Refrigerator. You would do well to join the sister site to Winnieowners, iRV2.com, and post there. You should get a response for "Old-Biscuit," who is the current reefer expert. Here is a link to Norcold and Dometic posts by "Old-Biscuit" on iRV2. Searching them might give you an answer, but fastest would be to post on iRV2.

You can often use the same user name and credentials on iRV2, so you won't have to remember a second password (for instance).

Some reefer problems have simple fixes, and it's a tough time to buy replacement units. After searching/posting, I might be inclined to find a reputable mobile repair company to assess your reefer.
