Hello to all the experts,

We are looking at a '99 34' Diesel Adventure. 5.9/4 speed.

Can anyone give me some good and bad and maybe what to look for up-on inspection.

Thanks Jim

We bought a 99 Itasca Suncruiser ( same unit i believe) back in december. While we have not had it long it has been trouble free so far. We did get all new tires since it still had the originals on.

We have A 1999 Adventurer(model 34g) and its been good so far. Left last Oct,and made a trip from Calif,to the east coast and back then 600 miles down into Mexico then back to Calif. About 9000 miles. It ran great and avg about 8.5 mpg. This was pulling a small pickup. The one thing you must do is make sure the Radiator is CLEAN and that the recall work for the blow by tube was done.

I have a similar coach that I am very happy with. I have had an engine problem described in the attached link. If you develop the cracked block its very expensive to repair unless you have extended warranty that will cover the problem. Not all diesel Adventurers have the reference block, but if you have one I believe a cracked block is inevitable.

Otherwise I get 10mpg and have never had any problems with the Allison 4 speed. On the steeper hills I slow down to around 45, but these hills are few and far between.
