Ceiling hooks

I'd like to install 2 hooks in the ceiling of our Minnie 5W to hang up a lightweight closet organizer. They weigh about 2 pounds and would be used for socks, undies, t-shirts, etc. Nothing too stressful and we could take it down easily while driving (if needed). We love our 2405RG but storage is limited in the bedroom.

Any suggestions for putting hooks in the ceiling?

Thanks!

I would say that is fine to hang from a clothes rack affixed to the sidewalls of your closet but not from a ceiling. There is not really enough structure in your ceiling to attach hooks or anything to.

Thanks for your feedback but it's not going into a closet. I'm looking to utilize an open corner of the bedroom - in place of a tv.

Ceilings are made of a sandwich of very thin, lightweight material and I would not want anything on it. Extending out from where the Tv might mount would be my only option.

I agree, but why not add a hook high up on a wall OP?

Why not use wall mounted brackets, cantilevering out close to the ceiling over the hanging rack? There are a variety of brackets that would work, including shelf brackets and plant hanging brackets.

Thanks everyone. I haven't mounted anything to the walls yet. Are there certain anchors you'd recommend? How "deep" are the walls? I don't want to drill out through the exterior! :-)

If you call Winnebago, they should be able to send you drawings showing where the underlying structural members are. If that doesn't work, a stud finder or metal detector should work. You can determine the wall depth at your entry door.

Outside walls are not thick and not built like a home. Most of us would never try to attach something directly to an outside wall. Better to attach things to an interior wall or better yet some existing wooden structure.

If the TV was attached to a wall you can assume that the factory installed Internal bracing at that spot only, not the entire wall.

The correct thing to do is call Winnebago.

This constantly comes up and we so quickly forget that Winnebago Customer Support has an excellent track record of sending out structural drawings outlining where the wiring, pipes, ducts and supports are installed in the floors, walls and ceilings of their products. In many areas there will also be mounting plates for various standard and optional accessories hidden in the floors, walls and ceilings.

Call Winnebago and ask for a drawing showing where everything hidden in that area is located so you will drill into the right things and won't drill into the wrong things.
