Coleman Roadtrip 285 grill hookup

Hello all. New Winnebago View owner (2022). Would like to hook up RV propane nozzle to a Coleman Roadtrip 285. The "regular" hose does not fit. I believe I need some kind of quick connect. Don't want to blow myself, husband, dogs, and RV to pieces first time we use it, so thought I better ask. What do I need? Jen

Looks like they have the pressure regulator built in. Most quick connects on RV's are AFTER the RV's pressure regulator so unless you tap in before that it's a no.

Is there an adapter to connect the Road Trip 285 to an RV propane line?

Hi there!

Thank you for contacting Coleman, the Outdoor Company. We understand that you want to know if there is an adapter available to connect the Coleman® RoadTrip® 285 Portable Stand-Up Propane Grill to an RV propane line. We would like to inform you that Coleman appliances are designed to work with high pressure propane systems that are not supported by Recreational Vehicles. Connecting your (Stove/Grills) to your RV is not recommended due to the risk to your safety and the validity of its warranty. We hope we were able to answer your question. Please let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you and have a wonderful day.

To get before the regulator and use the high pressure side - you'd need this -

You'd place it here 0 under that gray cover is the regulator that goes to everything downstream (oven, stove, quick disconnect, etc.). But you might not want to make or rather break that line open - I know I wouldn't for fear of a leak.

I believe the problem is that there are two sides to any regulator on gas items, the high before the reg and the low pressure after. So that means that in most cases we only want one reg in the lineup.
Passing the gas through a reg to lower from the high tank pressure to the low most things use is normal but passing it through a second reg, usually means you get too little pressure and flow.

Two solutions seem to work. Tap in before the first reg with a line as suggested or avoid using a second reg at the grill and just let the reg already on the Rv do the pressure change.
Do you see a way to remove the current grill reg to avoid the double reg question?
That also means you can't use the grill at home on a propane bottle as many like to do.

That was what we wanted as we liked to just have one grill and load it when we wanted it on trips---but that did not fit, so we switched and bought a second grill for the RV use, rather than go to the trouble of adding second connection to tap before the RV reg.

Does your View have an outside propane hookup. I have a Coleman road-trip grill and on our Voyage travel trailer there is a hookup for the grill. It is already pressure regulated so you leave the regulator off the grill and get a quick connect hose from the RV hookup to the grill and a quick connect that screws on the grill in place of the regulator. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hope these links work. This is what the hookup on the RV should look like.
