Agree with N8XV. Can't stop the bounce but if you do, strain will be placed on "something." Making a soft place when it bounces seems right,if it's the noise. Seems to me to be the thing to do. I have an Adventurer, 2002 and never had this problem nor heard of it before.
It might not help or you might not can do it but, I think I would try and hook some short bungee cords up inside the dash and down to the firewall behind the dash. That could take alot of that bounce out of it.

Not a bad idea! I'll have to give it a try. Probably wouldn't take very large diameter cord to keep it from bouncing.
