Angry Disturbing News for some of us

I just received this email from winnebago concerning their drivers door ....

This is in response to your call in regards to the Adventurer driver’s door. The website is currently showing floor plans for the 2016 with upcoming changes. Yes, the driver’s door is going away when these start up this summer. If you were to place a new order at this time, you would still be able to get the driver’s door.

Wow! I really wish that news registered as even slightly "disturbing" in my reality.

My first MH had a driver door, the current one does not. Personally, I like the driver door, it is easy in/out for a reasonably agile person, it gives much easier access to driver side under dash "stuff", it provides an additional exit / entrance in times of need (always someone on here being locked out because of a lock failure). I think it should be std on all MH's.

I had one on a Chieftain and really liked it. My Bounder didn't have one so I dealt with ( out ) it. .

Our first MH, Pace Arrow had a drivers door. Our current Bounder does not. I have to say I miss the door.

The reason I have a Winnebago "C" Class- I want both those front doors.

The warranty & The Safety advantages of a worldwide manufacturer is pretty significant.

I have a love - hate relationship with the drivers door. It does come in handy sometimes and a pain when it is raining or I leave a cup in the door cup holder.

I like my front door but that's not to say I've ever used it on a trip, not even once and don't look to use it in the foreseeable future.

It does not leak either

rk911, the awning gutter drains right in the middle of the door, so when you open the door you catch this nice stream of water coming down.

Rarely use our driver door, except for yesterday. Strong winds exploded during a gentle rain and caught me with my pants down (at the campground shower) and our awning out. Was barely able to get the awning off the roof and flat against the MH wall, where I secured the bottom, as the top was still attached. Long story short; we used the driver's door for 20 hours before the wind let up enough to safely stow the awning. Without a driver door I likely would have had to destroy the awning fabric to get in and out of the coach. Now the damage is only about $150 in hardware - and a little pride.

Side note - our driver's door does not accommodate a 90 lb. Lab very well.
