Heat pump

Hello, I have a 2008 Spirit 31H. WE WERE CAMPING AND THE AC/heat pump quit working. Have check the fuses and breaker all good. When I turn the thermostat to electric heat I hear a single click from the area of the unit but nothing happens. Temp outside was 50 degrees. The coach itself has about 19000 miles on it.

That might not be enough information to help. Does the fan move if you switch it on? You may have to get on the roof or inside the unit to spin one of the fans (remove power if you try this - and you're spinning to see if it moves freely). The internal squirrel cage fan is attached to the "radiator" fan on the roof and there is a capacitor that controls whether it gets power that could have gone bad or the motor bearings could have gone bad.
That's just the fan, then you have a compacitor on the compressor that could have also gone out.

I'm in the process (today) of replacing the fan in mine because it's started making noises that makes me think the bearing is going out. The motor is available on Amazon (as is the capacitor)

The fan moves freely, as soon as I hear the click from the Ac/ heat pump it goes directly to the gas furnace turning on instead

This may not be your problem but the system is designed for the LPG furnace to kick in if the room temperature is 5 degrees or more below the set temperature. The details are in your operator manual:

Your best bet is to read the Owners Manual for your coach as they all work somewhat differently. It should describe how yours works. It is a function of temperature and difference so is more complex than you might have expected. In my coach, in the conditions you describe, the furnace would turn on as yours did. Good luck,

Do not try and raise the temp more than 4 degrees above current temp. I.e.; if thermostat shows temp as 55, do not try to raise it above 59, raise in increments. Otherwise it will use the furnace.
