Recently purchased a 2005 Vectra 40 AD. Looking at my manual that came with the coach it says a 40AD is 36.5 feet long bumper to bumper. Mine is over 39 foot. Any ideas. I know this is trivial. Just trying to learn all I can about this thing. I did check the nameplate for model # and it says 40AD

A long time RV dealer told me that the number in the model usually refers to the interior coach length. When you add the end caps, the actual measured length usually will be 12 to 18" longer. This isn't accurate in all cases, but seems to fit most of the time.
Lengths are however the manufacturer decides to measure. Sort of like deciding what letters they want to use to describe the unit.
I finally figured out our KZ41 5er. The overall length listed on the sticker was 43' 10". While figuring out the total length of the rig (without having to connect) I measured from the front bumper of the truck to the hitch and then the trailer from the king pin to the back bumper. Yup - it was 41' from the king pin to the back bumper.
