Minnie 2106 slide and awning
Yesterday we went to Oliver's Campers in Lafayette, NY and asked about the 2106DS awning and slide. They said that on the 2106DS there is no manual crank to put the slide or awning in or out in event of an electrical failure. that you have to jump each of them from your car battery with your jumper cables. For the awning you disconnect the wires at the point where they enter then body of the RV and jump there. For the slide they said that you have to locate its controller box inside the camper, open that, and find the connections onto which to put the jumpers. I may be able to reach the awning connection from my car with jumpers, but I'm sure I could not reach the controller box for the slide, wherever that is!
The other interesting thing that he said was that you should always travel with the slide power switch on. Apparently it has a brake mechanism that prevents it from accidentally going out while you are towing, but only if there is power to the slide. Not so with the awning though. However, the guy also said that he had only rarely heard of electrical failures that prevented the slide or awning from being retracted, other than just a flat battery. Can anyone verify this info and/or has anyone tried jumping the slide or owning?
I probably will never have to do so, but am interested to know, just in case.
Happy travels,
R
