If the vents are open and not bug proofed, I first look for them in the burner tube as an easy one.
Of course it may be some other problem with air or gas flow but there is one that is really common in my area and that is spider webs, wasp nests or mud daubers, so I jump to that as a first bet that is also easy to run a flexible copper wire in and fish for what I might find!
