Question about Blogs

Question for the Site Team. There seems to be a function on the site that is overlooked or sometimes wrongly used, that being the Blogs Link. Am I right in thinking the Blog Link would be used for something like continuing stories about RV life like Campground reviews, Travel Adventures, Traveling with Dogs and topics like that ? If one does create a Blog does the post show up under the Recent Discussions tab or only under the Blogs tab ?

You are correct. It's both overlocked and often wrongly used.

People that are new to Forums think of them as blogs. So many times they post their questions, rants and opinions in a blog post here rather than the Forum.

The truth is... the blog function was developed in this software a decade or more ago when "Blogs" were a new thing taking over the world. Personally, I think they should be turned off here because they only confuse new members.

Forums never were replaced by blogs and for 90% of all winnieowners.com users they are not relevant.

I do search for them from time to time and try to close or remove blog posts and get them into forum threads.

You are correct about the original intended use for the Blog section. But it has never panned out as planned. I would suggest that you not bother with the entire blog section here as that is never going to be something others recognize and a place to visit.

Good blogging and blogger were eaten alive by Faceplant... excuse me.. Facebook.

The levels of literacy on blogs oft times determined whether or not the person doing the blog had any readership. Facebook and Twitter with shotgun style posting on the web degraded the conversational aspect that was a great asset of Blogger. Now it is far too easy to snipe at others on the net.

If I blog it will be upbeat and on the topic(s). I do code in HTML so the old vBulletin blog interface is a snap to use and fix.

Keep up the great work at keeping the conversation here on this site civilised during these trying times!
