I cut the umbilical cord to the mothership and added a male and female connection in the storage area.
In case of an emergency and having to get out of camp fast, (like a forest fire), instead of having to drag the whole cord back in the compartment, I can now quickly disconnect from shoreline power and leave the cord behind and plug into the generator. It allows me to store the surge protector in the locked bay as well.

I like the idea of storing the surge protector in the compartment when camping! Thanks!

That was an unintended consequence, but much appreciated. Thanks!

That is something I have been wanting to do. What brand of plugs did you use? Was looking on line and most are not rated well.

They’re just a plug. It works fine. In fact, the male end from the coach, never gets disconnected. It’s always connected to the surge protector in the bay, and only the surge Protector is utilized to the gen, or shoreline power.

What surge protector do you have and which compartment did you install it in?

Actually have two surge protectors. The one in the storage bay is the Hughes. I like it because it’s a true EPO protector with a replaceable board. But also, you can use the Bluetooth to see your power state from inside your RV. I leave it plugged in at the sewer/power bay, right next to the original plug for the generator.
